Acupuncture has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. It is used to treat people with a wide range of conditions, including allergies, digestive disorders, emotional issues, infertility and skin complaints. Focusing on improving the overall well being of the patient rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms, the aim of acupuncture is to treat the whole person in order to restore harmony between their physical, emotional and spiritual aspects.

What you can expect

On the patient’s first visit, a detailed case history is taken.  From this a personal treatment plan is devised, based not only on the symptoms shown, but also tongue and pulse diagnosis. The philosophy behind acupuncture is that energy (Qi) flows around the body in channels (also called meridians) and if the flow is impaired or weakened, illness and imbalance can result.
